Dear Friends of Briarwood,
The Board of Directors for Briarwood Leadership Center has decided that Briarwood is unable to offer overnight camping opportunities for children and youth in the Summer 2021 season. The Covid-19 public health crisis continues to bring uncertainties, including demand for camping ministries.

We understand this news will be disappointing to many, especially those children and young adult leaders looking forward to traditional overnight Summer Camp. We are nevertheless confident that this decision allows Briarwood staff to focus this spring and summer on other ways in 2021 to realize Briarwood’s core mission of strengthening communities through leadership formation.

Briarwood staff are actively reaching out to collaborate with children’s and youth ministry programs
throughout the NT-NL Synod to offer opportunities as well as assess needs. Online opportunities for
congregational leadership training and adult education are in the works. Briarwood is working closely with NT-NL Synod staff to provide infrastructure support and content for major synodical gatherings, including the recent Tri-Theo theological conference and the upcoming Synod Assembly.

Briarwood staff members are eager to respond to the needs of your ministries and families. We are open for smaller group gatherings such as church youth groups. Families can come and stay overnight. Our trails remain open for you to visit and commune with nature. For information on visiting Briarwood, please be in touch with our Community Engagement Manager, Avery Hawley (avery@bwtx.org).

Sincerely,
The Briarwood Leadership Center Board of Directors
